Home Ice Advantage?

Home ice advantage can have many meanings, but the figurative ones are always used in hockey. Whether the ice is "uphill" for an opponent in terms of it being difficult to play against the home team or the ice being "slanted" as the calls go against the road team, it appears the ice at the MTS Centre last night played into the Jets' favour in their game against the Phoenix Coyotes. It wasn't slanted or uneven in any way that I could tell from where I sat, and all the highlights show no blemishes on the ice either.

If you're a fan of the Coyotes, though, it seems the puck and the ice collaborated on robbing the Coyotes of a goal last night. Check out the video.

A whole new meaning for home ice advantage, right? How did that puck not go in?

The Jets won last night's game by a 1-0 score, sending the fans home extremely happy as the former Jets came away with no points against the new local heroes. Next up for the Jets are the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night, and the Jets and their fans might want to put on a good show in case Zach Parise tests the free agent market this summer. He'd be one heckuvan addition to this Jets squad for next year.

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
